"Seven hearts
the journey make.
Seven ways
the hearts will break."

The wise woman's warning rings in Rowan's head as he and six companions set out to climb the forbidden Mountain that towers over their village, Rin. The stream Rin depends on has stopped flowing, and these seven are seeking the source of the problem. But no one who has tried to climb the Mountain has ever returned. Legend has it that there is a dragon at the top; every morning and evening the people hear its roar.

Rowan is terrified. In a village where people pride themselves on being hardy and brave, Rowan has always been timid and shy. He is teased by the other children and belittled by the adults, who whisper that he will never be the man his father was.

This dangerous journey is Rowan's chance to step out of his father's shadow and earn the respect of the village. But, frightened by the perils that lie ahead, Rowan isn't even thinking about this possibility. He's just wondering if he can survive.

I really liked Rowan of Rin but i also think that the title gave it away that Rowan would save the village in the end.But apart from that i think Rowan of Rin is a good book to read.

Kids read books for enjoyment, but Rowan of Rin is the complete opposite of this. Rowan of Rin is a book that Emily Rodda created for middle school children to enjoy, but she struggles. After reading this you will see why. Firstly, Rowan of Rin has too many characters. All of them are technically talking at the same time. This is so confusing. When I was reading, this book, I was so confused with who is talking. So this means there are too many characters. Next, this book is based on a dragon and it’s even on the front cover, but it’s hardly in the book. The dragon comes and goes. You won’t even realise that there’s a dragon in the book. Lastly, oveusly you will know that Rowan saves his village, there’s no surprise. It says it on the front cover. My teacher even said “Rowan hasent deffeted the dragon yet” he knows what’s going to happen. As you can see Rowan of Rin is bad. It has too many characters, there’s not much of a dragon and there’s no surprise. So don’t wast your wonderful time reading this, go find some other cool book.

The dragon makes the stream flowing down the hill so Marie, John , Rowan, vowel and Elma go up the mountain to make the stream go again

This book is a easy read and is entertaining for period of time I read it in. It has good qualities and writing. I read this for OBOB and I am glad i read it.
