Pax and Peter have been inseparable ever since Peter rescued him as a kit. But one day, the unimaginable happens: Peter's dad enlists in the military and makes him return the fox to the wild.

At his grandfather's house, three hundred miles away from home, Peter knows he isn't where he should be—with Pax. He strikes out on his own despite the encroaching war, spurred by love, loyalty, and grief, to be reunited with his fox.

Such a beautiful, sad book. Pax and Peter have been inseparable since Peter rescued Pax as a tiny kit. But when Peter's father makes him release the fox, it breaks Peter's heart, and Peter will not stop at any odds to rescue his best friend once more. Definitely recommended.

I am currently reading pax and it is an excellent book. A father has to go to war and he makes his son named Peter leave his beloved pet for named pax in the woods. Then Peter goes to his grandparents house. But,he escpaes to try and find pax. He meets someone named viola and she helps him get better. That is all I've read so far but I would recommend.

This book is about a boy, Peter, who owns a pet fox whom he found abandoned when he was a kit. (baby fox) When war comes Peters dad sends Peter off to live with his grandfather and makes him send away pax. When Peter embarks on a dangerous journey to get Pax back he meets someone that shows him not all creatures can be owned. 100000000/10 This book is very heartwarming and has the power of friendship to the max! When Peter first laid eyes on the fox kit, alone in the den, Peter knew he would become his best friend. After bringing the fox back, Peter decides to name him Pax. During the five years from then, their relationship has only grown stronger until they are inseparable. One fateful day, Peter's father informs him that he's leaving to fight in the war, and that Pax will have to be left in the forest. Peter tries to protest, but in the end, they drop off Pax in the woods, and Peter is sent to live with his grandfather. After only a day, Peter decides to trek the 50 miles to the forest where he left Pax. But he trips over a root and breaks his leg. Vola, a woman, living in the woods, finds and takes care of Peter. Will the two friends ever reunite?
