A breathtaking, enchanting new series by debut author Jessica Townsend, about a cursed girl who escapes death and finds herself in a magical world--but is then tested beyond her wildest imagination

Morrigan Crow is cursed. Having been born on Eventide, the unluckiest day for any child to be born, she's blamed for all local misfortunes, from hailstorms to heart attacks--and, worst of all, the curse means that Morrigan is doomed to die at midnight on her eleventh birthday.

But as Morrigan awaits her fate, a strange and remarkable man named Jupiter North appears. Chased by black-smoke hounds and shadowy hunters on horseback, he whisks her away into the safety of a secret, magical city called Nevermoor.

It's then that Morrigan discovers Jupiter has chosen her to contend for a place in the city's most prestigious organization: the Wundrous Society. In order to join, she must compete in four difficult and dangerous trials against hundreds of other children, each boasting an extraordinary talent that sets them apart--an extraordinary talent that Morrigan insists she does not have. To stay in the safety of Nevermoor for good, Morrigan will need to find a way to pass the tests--or she'll have to leave the city to confront her deadly fate.

Perfect for fans of the Harry Potter series and Neil Gaiman, this fast-paced plot and imaginative world has a fresh new take on magic that will appeal to a new generation of readers.

I love it!! My teacher let me borrow the book and now my freind is reading it!! You should really read it!! It might be a little scary for young kids but other than that it is great!

Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow is a spectacular book that shows the story of a young girl named Morrigan who is often blamed for catastrophes that take place. Morrigan is about to die on Eventide- until she met a man who changed her life named Jupiter North. She is not sure of what to make of him at first, but Jupiter does a lot, including CHEATING DEATH and try to do many things so Morrigan does not die. But being with Jupiter and being safe, does not mean she is safe forever, and that is what happens. Morrigan learns about the Wudersmith, and discovers that... This is a nice book that readers any age will love and enjoy.

good

This book was pretty good,The basic plot is that Morrigan is cursed because she was born on Eventide, which is the unluckiest day to be born on.Every single day she is accused of accidents and catastrophes that she didn't commit. Her family hates her family, and finally she is supposed to die on her 11th birthday. Then she meets someone called Jupiter North and is taken to Nevermoor. Will she fit in the society of Nevermoor and join the Wundrous Society. Find out for yourself. This book wasn't very action packed and that's understandable for the first entry in a series. The city of Nevermoor was so amazing and creative that it kind of makes for it not having much action. The characters were pretty good. The antagonist of the series is very reminiscent of Lord Voldemort, but have some differences from Voldemort that made him stand out. This book was overall very creative and good that I would definitely recommend this, especially for hardcore Potterheads like myself. I give this book 4 stars.
