Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

So on her Matching Ceremony, she will learn who she will marry. Xander's face is on the screen for her match and Cassia is delighted. Xander is her best friend and they will be so happy together. But for just a second, she sees another boy's face, but then it flashes away. Cassia recomizes the boy- Ky Markham. They were friends, but weren't like her and Xander. An official from the Society tells her that it's just a glitch and that Xander is her true match. Cassia decides to forget Ky, and focuses on her life and Xander. But slowly Ky starts creeping into her mind and she finds herself spending time with Ky. As well, Cassia starts wondering if Society is not as good as she thought it was. Great book! I’ve been into dystopian novels these days and this really satisfied my taste (it also has some romance stuff in it if you're into/not into that kid of stuff)

This series is awesome, I love how the characters end up "freeing" themeselves from this controlling lifestyle, especially the heroine, Cassia!

It seems like most people here are comparing this book to the Hunger Games. If you enjoyed both, you should totally check out Divergent by Veronica Roth!

Cassia lives in a perfect world with perfect structure with a perfect government called the Society. She's never once doubted the Society's ability to make the best choices for her...until two Matches flash inexplicably across her screen. The Matching Ceremony is one of the most important events of Cassia's life! It determines who she'll marry based on their personalities. So when Xander Carrow, her best friend, first appears, Cassia is elated. But then, just for a second, Ky Markham's face flashes across the screen before it darkens. The Society assures Cassia that this is a very rare fluke, but she is still haunted by one of the things she has known as forbidden: curiosity. Trying to really love Xander while secretly falling for Ky, Cassia realizes that the Society may not be as infallible as she thought. And all the while, one question is inescapable: is the Society helping her live, or caging her in? This novel perfectly balances rivet and danger while teetering around the unavoidable result: death.

Cassia lives in a society more strict than today. She is told who to love where to live and how to live her life and how to end it all by the government. But when she gets matched with her best friend and things go wrong she is faced with the wrong match on the screen she slowly falls in love. I can connect this to today's society. There are many stereotypes in how we should look act and live our lives. Similar to how Cassias society works. I give this book 5 stars because I really like the plot and how Cassia perceives the world.
