Dark schemes unfold—and Sophie’s loyalty is pushed to the limit—in this thrilling fifth book in the bestselling Keeper of the Lost Cities series.

Sophie Foster is back in the Lost Cities—but the Lost Cities have changed. The threat of war hangs heavy over her glittering world, and the Neverseen are wreaking havoc.

The lines between friend and enemy have blurred, and Sophie is unsure whom to trust. But when she’s warned that the people she loves most will be the next victims, she knows she has to act.

A mysterious symbol could be the key—if only she knew how to translate it. Every new clue seems to lead deeper into her world’s underbelly and the Black Swan aren’t the only ones who have plans. The Neverseen have their own Initiative, and if Sophie doesn’t stop it, they might finally have the ultimate means to control her.

Have you ever wondered if trolls and gnomes were real?Well in Lodestar the leaders of each species came to sign the treaty including Sophie Foster. Everything was going fine till the shaking started to happen. Everything started to fall Sophie was locked in her room. When she got out she was trying to find her way out because for the safety there they had to blind fold everyone. She found Mr. Forkle and he told her to get out but she said she wasn’t leaving till she left with Edaline. He left to find Edaline Sophie was running to get out of there until she crossed paths with Edaline. They started to work to get out. They eventually came out alive. Keefe told Sophie that Mr. Forkle wasn’t with the other people. Sophie went with Keefe to find Mr. Forkle they found him with Councilor Oralie. When they found him he was bleeding and he told them that he got into a fight with Gethen and he used the sword near his cell. I like how Messenger made Sophie so she never gives up and she is always trying to move on. That’s why I think the theme is “never lose hope”. I think this is the theme because Sophie was going to give up on breaking down the door but Sophie kept trying and trying. Some memorable characters are Sophie, Keefe, and Dex. Sophie is a girl who would do anything to save people who she cares about even if it means risking her life. Keefe is trying to solve problems even though he has some of his own. I can understand Keefe that he is hiding his problems but he should know that his friends are there for him.Dex is always a boy who was looked down on but ever since he manifested as a technopath it stopped. I feel bad for Dex because he was always looked down on just because his parents were a bad match. Now I am going to tell you how elves live like. The world that elves live in is divided up because trolls, gnomes, ogres, goblins, etc need space too. Elves live far apart from each other so they light-leap. Something that could be improved is when Mr. Forkle was with Councilor Oralie. How did he end up there because all I know is that the prison was underground not above ground. Although one spot was confusing I still give it 5 stars. I would recommend this to fourth graders and up because of the violence and because I feel like third graders and above wouldn’t understand fantasy.

Sophie Foster is back home, and it feels...weird. Sophie's still checking in with Keefe, after the dramatic ending of Neverseen. But Keefe is facing challenging challenges, when is the line going to be crossed? The ogres and elves are each preparing for war- and a sumit is getting arranged quickly, for it might be the only thing that will save the species. Meanwhile, Sophie can tell that someone is planning something very important and very lifestaking. If only someone would listen. And a terrible fate has happened to someone close to Sophie's heart. So when a mysterious sign is shown many times, ideas are made and this could be the way to TRULY stop the Neverseen. But...this sign may be the Neverseen's version of Project Moonlark. Is friendship destined to become a battlefield? Shannon Messenger is back again, bringing us an amazing book. Happy reading!

After reading this, I was like, “Okay, Shannon Messenger, you have completely exceeded my expectations.” The fifth book in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series is even better than the first four, and readers will find themselves with their noses buried deep into the story, just after the first couple pages. The amazing character development, thick, intense plot, and huge cliffhangers in Lodestar will surely satisfy both longtime fans and new readers of this series. Put down whatever you’re reading, and come read...drumroll, please...Keeper of the Lost Cities! Summary: After the shocking betrayal of someone she though was her close friend, fourteen-year-old elf Sophie Foster doesn’t know who she can trust...and who she can’t. An evil group of rebels and renegades called the Neverseen are after her, and they would stop at nothing to kill her. When she joined the Black Swan, who are responsible for giving her special abilities like telepathy and being able to inflict pain, Sophie thought she would be safer. She was wrong. Can she protect her friends and stop the Neverseen in their tracks—once and for all? Read this book to find out! Overall, I loved this book, and rate it 5/5 stars. I would recommend it for every reader who likes fantasy, action, and of course, lots of fun!

Sophie tried to bury the Theory deep lock it away with all the other things she didt want to think about but the idea has already dug it's claws in deep so bad the bigger scarier question it raised echoing around her head on auto repeat if the lodestar initiative was the neverseen version of project moonlark... Did that mean Keefe was meant to be her nemes Keeper of the lost cities is a little bit Alice in wonderland a little Lord of the rings and some Harry potter and all so much fun

This is the 5th book in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series, and I loved it! This book picks up where Neverseen ended. Keefe has just joined the Neverseen and betrayed his friends. Now nobody knows who to trust. The Neverseen doesn't tell Keefe all of their secrets, and that makes it impossible to get one step ahead of them. These characters face tough choices and terrible losses, and they also have to protect Sophie's adoptive parents, at least that's what they think. It seems the Neverseen is always one step ahead, and Keefe might just ruin everything... I loved this book and think anybody can read it.

So, Keefe's in the Neverseen, trust is going down, and things are crazy. Lodestar is an awesome book, full of the adventure anyone would want. And all her special abilities! Sophitz is probably gonna become a thing with the 'But we're Cognates' quote that Fitz keeps saying. Keefe is off, Fitz is troubled, and more which I can't remember because this book is PURE AWESOMENESS. #Sophitz guys! From Lady Gisela, to the Lodstar symbol, to Keefe, to the Neverseen, and I'm pretty sure Gethen's in Lumenaria or whatever that place is called. This is an epic adventure of life and death, and don't get me started.... This book goes on and on about trust and great minds. SPOILER COMING UP: Sophie's abilities are incredible, she's a Telepath, Inclictor, Teleporter, Polygot, and Enhancer! CRAZY. I said spoiler because I was't sure when Sophie manifested as a Enhancer. But anyways. I just changed my mind and now this is my favorite book. Before it was Neverseen, both are equally awesome! #number1shannonmessengerfan
