Tells the tale of the Victorian era. It also includes the life of servants, foundlings, circus performers and music hall artistes.

The Hetty Feather series is so good! I actually think that the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th books are better than the first, and usually that isn't the case, but I didn't like the 4th book (Diamond) because it kinda dragged on. Summary: The book is set in Victorian England and the main character is Hetty Feather. She is a girl living at the Foundling Hospital, which is pretty much an orphanage for children whose parents couldn't afford to take care of them/died. Hetty hates it at the hospital, but towards the middle of the book, she discovers that her mother isn't dead, which is what Hetty originally thought! She actually meets her mother! I won't say any more because I don't want to give away anything. In the second book, Sapphire Battersea, Hetty is old enough to go off on her own. She works for people but doesn't find it very fun, and the whole time she's just thinking about her mother. Something sad happens and Hetty decides her next journey will be to find her father. In the third book, Emerald Star, Hetty sets off to find her father. I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I won't say if she finds him or not! The 4th book, Diamond, is the story of a girl living at the circus. Her name is Diamond, and she has her own part in the show. They treat her very badly at the circus but she finds hope when she meets Hetty! Lastly, in the 5th book, Hetty and Diamond leave the circus to put on their own show together at a big theater. It's a dangerous place for children, but they become successful. Overall, these books were great and are amazing for kids that might not be as interested in reading since they're so addicting!
