This book is such a great fantasy novel, you just have to read it. Morrigan Crow is cursed, and she is blamed for all the accidents or unlucky incidents that happen in her town. She is also doomed to die on her 11 birthday at midnight. But then, on the night of her birthday, a strange man named Jupiter comes and takes her away from her home in a huge two-story-high brass pod, far away from her dull family, narrowly escaping death. They arrive in the secret, magical, colorful city Nevermoor, where Morrigan learns that Jupiter has chosen her to compete in four difficult trials to get into the incredible 'Wundrous Society' which Jupiter himself is in. There she learns that getting into the Wundrous Society isn't going to be as easy as it sounds, as she's competing against more then 500 kids, and she's expected to have a talent that makes her special, when she's sure that she doesn't. Will Morrigan discover her talent that Jupiter assures her she has, or will she fail the talent trial, and get sent back to her old home, where she's doomed to die. Read the book to find out what happens next. If you really like reading fantasy novels, this is the book for you, with just the right amount of action, emotion, and wit. I'm hoping there will be a sequel, because I can't get enough of this story, and I couldn't put it down when I was reading it. This story takes you away to another world, and you really care about the characters. I recommend this book to kids in late elementary and middle school.Over 6 years agomaddyp18 has read this book.
Over 6 years agosnicker9's book review was featured in Kid Authors: True Tales of Childhood from Famous Writers (Kid Legends).
Kid Authors is the next book is the "Kid" series. It tells stories of famous writers from when they were children. Each story was slightly different. Some were about their family, and childhood experiences. Others were about their inspiration for their stories and how/when they began to write. One of my favorite stories was about Roald Dahl, and how he drew some of his stories from his childhood experiences. For example, he was inspired by a local candy shop he passed everyday as a boy, and later wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I liked that this book was written in a narrative format, instead of straight facts about the author's life. It was a nice quick read. I recommend this book for elementary and middle school kids, especially those who like writing. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.Over 6 years agosnicker9 added a book review.

In the continuation of the "Kid --- " series is Kid Authors. This book is really cool it tells all about famous authors when they were kids and the hard things they faced. My personal favorite part of this book was the back where it contained fun facts about many different authors. I would recommend this book to anyone especially who likes writing or reading.Over 6 years agollpanda has read this book.

The One and Only Ivan is one of the most touching books I have ever read. Ivan is a kind gorilla who is stuck in a cage at a mall/video game center. Ivan had a friend with him named Stella the elephant. Sadly, she died and made Ivan promise to take care of Ruby (the new baby elephant who ended up at the mall) After hearing stories from Stella and Ruby, he was aware of the harsh abuse the animals received and wanted Ruby to be in a safe home, away from the mall. Unlike most gorillas, Ivan is talented in art. He used finger paints to create a sign for the humans to put on the billboard near the mall. People saw the sign and protested. Eventually, Ruby and Ivan found a safe home at the zoo and Ivan found a mate and Ruby found a loving family. Ivan's promise to Stella was fulfilled.Over 6 years agoturtlenicole added a book review.
In the beginning, Greg thinks that his life is actually a reality tv show (similar to The Truman Show) and gets paranoid as he thinks his family members are just actors. However, Rowley is the one who ends up to be famous by the end of the book because he got stuck in a tree and a news group decided to bring attention to him.Over 6 years agoturtlenicole added a book review.
Greg's grandfather moved into the Heffley home because he could no longer pay the rent at Leisure Towers. However, grandpa bothers Greg to the point where he made the car end up in a ditch. Greg then decided to participate on the school trip to Hardscrabble Farms because he doesn't want to confront his dad on what happened to the car. However, Greg soon realized he made a bad decision because of the horrible food, unsanitary showers (from sweat) and the rumored farmer named Silas Scratch. By the end of the book, we find out that Silas Scratch is someone Greg's dad invented just so he could have to shack with the clean showers all to himself. Greg decides to go along with it and holds up a sign saying "Beware of Silas Scratch" on his way home.Over 6 years ago
