Julia is quite short, and doesn't particularly have talents in the theatrical business. Keeping this in mind, it surprises her that she and her brother are forced to audition for her town's summer production of Wizard of Oz. They land roles as Munchkins, and Julia doesn't like all the grueling work to which she is assigned. But once she is upgraded to flying monkey, she shifts her perspective on the world, seeing things and people in a new, artistic light. This book really focuses on a personal adventure, where Julia discovers who she is, and makes friends with the most interesting characters. She learns not to let her height define her, but her bold and creative personality. Holly Goldberg Sloan has created another success.

This is yet another comical installment in the Bad Kitty Series. In this book, Bad Kitty’s cat license has been revoked! Not that he knew such a thing existed. Apparently, he has done too many un-catly deeds, and now he is suffering the consequences. The only way he can get it back is to take a test. If he gets one question correct he gets to be a cat again. But if he doesn’t...he loses his license for good, not to mention any dignity left. Once Bad Kitty arrives for his class, he notices something strange. Some of the test-takers look quite bizarre...and things get even more weird when Uncle Murray shows up for class. Is there something else going on? Is there a sinister plan plotted by chickens to get rid of cats? Maybe. You will have to read it to find out. This book was good, but I don’t think it lived up to some of the other Bad Kitty books. Some of the jokes weren’t that funny. This book is meant for younger kids. I would say anywhere between ages 5-8. It would be perfect for a beginning reader, who is looking for easy reads. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Get ready to go on an adventure with the most brave boy you could possibly ever meet. Alex has a deceased dad he never knew, a 24- year old brother working in LA, a careless mom, and he is 11 years old living in Rockview, Colorado with his dog Carl Sagan. As a rocket scientist enthusiast, Alex is drawn to go a rocket convention to launch his Golden iPod like Carl Sagan launched the Golden Record. Taking his dog with him, he ventures to Albuquerque, New Mexico to the convention by train. He makes more and more friends every single day. Unexpectedly, Alex goes on an adventure that takes him back to his roots, teaches him about the grown-up world, and puts him through a difficult experience that I doubt any 11 year old could ever face. This will be one of the best books of 2017. The book deserves the glory of 5-stars.
