The most noticeable difference between the modern human face and that of the hunter-gatherers, who lived on Earth over 200,000 years ago, is the forehead. While we now have flat...Over 5 years agosnicker9's book review was featured in The Losers Club.
Alec is always getting in trouble for reading when he's supposed to be paying attention in class. He can't put a good book down, which unfortunately leads to the Principal's decision that Alec has to pay attention or else. In order to legitimately squeeze in his reading time he starts a club in his after-school program. A club where he only reads, and is called the Loser's Club so no one else will join. But before he knows it the club starts to grow....and he starts to learn that real life can be pretty interesting too. I really liked this book! I felt like it was a really unique tale, I liked reading about a boy who is so passionate about reading. I recommend this book to elementary school kids and up, and to both girls and boys. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.Over 5 years agosnicker9 added a book review.

Jade has attended a private school far away from her poor neighborhood for several years, and she tries to make the most of every opportunity she has. One of those opportunities is being invited to Women to Women, a mentorship program. But this opportunity doesn't seem like a positive to Jade, especially as she learns more about her mentor Maxine and their differences become more and more obvious. I loved this book! I felt like I was feeling Jade's emotions as she was navigating school troubles and relationships at home and with friends. The narrative was authentic and descriptive. I recommend this book to older kids, especially girls. I think that some of the plot would be harder to comprehend for younger kids. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.Over 5 years agosnicker9 added a book review.
Eleven-year-old P.T. Wilkie lives at the Wonderland Motel that his mother and grandfather own, and he happens to be great at weaving tall tales. The Wonderland Motel is the best hotel ever in his opinion. Not only is there ice cream and a pool, but there is a wonderful collection of unique statues - including a giant frog slide and a huge dinosaur statue. But sadly the Wonderland Motel is in financial trouble since what they don't have is customers. P.T. Wilkie and his new friend Gloria (who happens to know all things business) are determined to find a way to save the Wonderland before it's too late. And the way to do it may just be to make-up some stories. This book was funny and unique and had wonderful characters. I recommend this book to elementary and middle grade students, and some older kids would enjoy it as well. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.Over 5 years agosnicker9 added a book review.
Nikki Maxwell is starting eighth grade at a new school and this book is her personal diary of the funny and disastrous events that she continuously finds herself in. I would compare this book to the girl's version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I recommend this book to kids who enjoy reading easy-to-read books that are funny and authentic and highlight true coming-of-age experiences that a kid goes through. I rate this book 3 out of 5 books.Over 5 years agoturtlenicole replied to a comment in
