Harry Potter, an orphan boy, living with his mother's sister and her family, the Dursley's, begins receiving mysterious letters written in emerald ink. For reasons he does not yet understand, Harry is forbidden from reading the letters. A plethora of letters start arriving by means of the chimney and through windows, delivered by owls. Eventually the letters get so plentiful that the Dursley's leave their home and run to a cottage on a small island in the middle of the sea.

I loved this book because it gives a modern perspective on the Greek myths and makes them relevant to me and my friends.

This is one of the most believable and well created dystopian worlds that I have read about, and though you know it is set in the future, it is difficult to shake the feeling that it is happening all around you.

I love all of Rick Riordan's books, but Percy Jackson will always be my favorite because of how real it feels. This is one of the books where you are pulled in to the story and have to keep reading.
