About 4 years agoghost_dk_diemx's book review was featured in A Line in the Sand : The Alamo Diary of Lucinda Lawrence : Gonzales, Texas, 1836 (Dear America Series).
Oh my gosh! I can not believe no wrote a review on this book! I guess I'm the first because I finished this book a few weeks ago. I really think this one is quite interesting because a girl leaves her hometown with her family to start a new life in Idaho. She was really sad having to leave her friends as she explained in the book and sent her teacher and bestie several letters while on the train. The conductor wasn't the sweetest but they got to where they needed to be eventually at least. At that point, they waited for everyone else who was traveling with them at the wagons. The girl's mother had a piano that she wanted to take ever so badly to Idaho. Sadly they said it would be too heavy. A man said she could leave her piano in one of his wagons. I'm adding this part of my review just cause I thought it was so nice. Later the girl makes to friends and has a crush. Her little sister also made a friend and they spied on the girl cause they liked to sneak about. Most everyone was nice. At one point they made it to where they had to cross a river with Indians helping. Everyone made it but to poor little girls who didn't. [I was super sad reading that part.] When they went on they met some people that talked about a gold depot. Everyone was excited to hear this but some people argued that it wasn't a good idea to go. So the dad, papa left with the uncle to go get some gold. this was at the point when people were starting to get sick and everyone was worried when the other people went to check for gold. At one point that sickness reached the girl's family and her sister got sick. So her mother told the girl to take the aunt and get travel back to get the father. Days maybe weeks later the girl's aunt uncle and father returned. The little sister had some bad sickness and all of the family was disappointed and sad. At the end, though the girl makes a single entry as an adult and then passes the day after - but it was such a good story I could read it so many times. It taught me a lot I feel like and just got to me mentally in a good way. A unique thing about this book also is that the little sister shares a diary with the girl so it tells both of their stories kinda when you think about it. Anyway, so requested for you guys! Such a good book and keep reading! ;)About 4 years agoghost_dk_diemx added a book review.

We'll get through this if we just push through! Be clean and stay safe! [I'm still really sad about my band concert though...-~-]About 4 years agoghost_dk_diemx replied to a comment in
