The ending is really upsetting in every way possible, but it's not the "end" if you get what I'm saying.

Same at my school! Each day I heard a new spoiler which was the WORST. But at least I didn't hear the ending, I just suspected it.

Did they, though? ;) This is a universe with time travel and the soul stone...anything is possible. The fight isn't over yet - they'll be back.

neoncat's movie review was featured in Avengers: Infinity War.
THIS IS IT: the successful culmination of 10 years of Marvel movies, and it's indeed worth the wait. Infinity War is a total EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER, an EPICNESS unmatched by any other movie. This is THE most INTENSE movie I've ever seen, hands down. It's incredibly JAW-DROPPING, EXCITING, and EVERY MOMENT felt like a CLIMAX. A true cinematic achievement, this is the long-awaited team-up of the Avengers and the Guardians against the most powerful enemy they've ever faced: Thanos, who wants the power of the 6 Infinity Stones. These Infinity Stones have been scattered throughout the Marvel movies, and Thanos has been quietly lurking in the background as well. After Loki and Ultron failed him, he's here to face our heroes himself and "balance" the universe in his own image. Stopping him is essential, because if he collects all 6 Stones, he could inflict his twisted will on reality - and the universe would be changed forever. The merging of so many storylines and characters is THRILLING and SATISFYING to see play out on screen. Infinity War subverts your expectations and takes you to unexpected places. Everyone gets to shine, and even Thanos is fleshed out, as the story spans multiple planets. The battles SOAR to fierce heights and my heart raced through the NON-STOP ACTION. It's important to know that this film relies on your knowledge of the 18 movies that came before, which could be confusing for the casual moviegoer, especially the really young fans. This is also the longest running Marvel movie to date, and PACKED FULL of heroes, which requires your utmost attention. I LOVED this movie, while at the same time it RIPPED my heart out. Like any Marvel movie you will laugh, but this is easily the most emotional one. Infinity War establishes just how real the stakes are for the Avengers; no one is safe. Every character is tested, and pushed to desperate measures against a seemingly invincible villain in so many HEART-WRENCHING ways. Thanks to stirring performances, ambitious storytelling, monumental confrontations, and a truly surprising ending, I clapped, whooped, and cried along with my theater's audience. This first part of a two-part Avengers finale has every intention of being brilliant and traumatic, and leaves you hanging with a chilling and horrific cliffhanger that'll have you impatient for what's to come next in 2019. There's only one post-credits scene at the very end and the implications of it are exciting. There's plenty to digest and many possibilities to theorize about. From this point forward, nothing will ever be the same. Stay away from spoilers, buckle-up, and bring tissues, my friends. I can't wait for what's to come.
