This book looks and sounds exciting and I really like Rick Riordan, whom people have been relating this book to. So it would be cool to read it.About 6 years agoreadwriter added a new comment in

I read this comic while I was at a Barnes and Noble, and I was completely blown away by it. The author was really able to capture the frustrations of being a teenager, (at least, in my case!) and what it feels like to not know who you want to become. Basically, Kamala Khan is the female version of Peter Parker. Even if you're not a big comic book reader (a.k.a. me), you should pick this one up! It's not quite as relatable to guys as it is to girls, but the struggles of teenagers are pretty across the board. I also loved how this comic provided diversity, along with a different religion, compared to white-washing her character, and I thought it added a neat insight on how my life doesn't differ that much from her's, despite a difference in religion and different colored skin. Because in the end, it doesn't really matter what religion we are or what skin color we have, we're all just people.About 6 years agojeffdaboss's book review was featured in I Survived the Children’s Blizzard, 1888 (I Survived #16).
Again, another amazing book to be in the titular "I Survived" series. This time, Lauren Tarshis brings us into the life of John Hale, an ordinary boy living in the Dakota Territory during 1888. He just moved to Dakota with his family so they could start a farm. As he makes friends in his small town, he learns of the terrifying things they have faced, like grasshoppers attacks and a deadly rattlesnake. But with the winter season coming, the blistering blizzards prove to be the worst. As John and his friends try to brave through the blizzard, it becomes difficult to tell if they will make it out alive. This book also comes with background information about the Children's Blizzard and life during the 1880s in US territories. This is a great historical fiction book that kids will love!About 6 years agojeffdaboss added a book review.
