If you were framed for stealing a pair of shoes which are owned by a person very famous, what do you think would happen? This happens to Stanley Yelnats - whose last name is his first backward, and vice-versa - and is sentenced to attend Camp Green Lake, a camp to reform child criminals. When he gets there, he faces a harsh life of digging holes every day. While digging, if you are to find something, you are to report it and will receive extra shower tokens and will not have to dig the rest of your hole. This exactly what happens to Stanley. He finds something, but he gives it to his friend to act like he found it. Stanley soon befriends many of the people in his cabin, especially Zero. Stanley teaches Zero how to read and write, and in turn, Zero digs part of Stanley’s daily hole. Eventually, they are caught and Zero runs away. Imagine a dystopia in which all those who are creative are slaughtered. This is exactly what happens in The Unwanteds. In the land of Quill, teenagers (13-year-olds) are sorted into three groups, Wanteds, Necessaries, and Unwanteds. Wanted's are intelligent people who are sent to The University and are trained for great things. Necessaries are people who will live in slave-like conditions and do low-level work. Finally, Unwanteds, these are people who have committed infractions. An infraction can be anything from boasting, to dragging a stick around in mud (drawing). Alexander (Alex) Stowe becomes an Unwanted while his twin Aaron is a Wanted. Alex and the other Unwanteds are taken to the Death Farm and expect to be thrown into the Great Lake of Boiling Oil by the Eliminators. Instead, he is saved by Marcus Today (Mr. Today). He shows them the magical land of Artime. He is then trained in the skills of magic. Alex enjoys the utopia until he tries to get his brother to join him. Alex draws a 3-d door that will let him travel between where the drawing is, and where the real door is. Alex travels to Aaron's room and tries to get him to join him in Artime. What he doesn't realize is that all that his brother wants is to please High Priestess Justine. Aaron then reveals Artime and starts a war. The war lasts for a couple days and is composed of epic battles between The Quillitary and Artimeans. Eventually, Artime wins and Mr. Today's spy becomes High Priest of Quill.

It all starts with Reynard Muldoon, or Reynie. He and his tutor and the orphanage see an ad for "special privileges". Reynie takes the tests and eventually meets 3 more kids who join to become a team, The Mysterious Benedict Society. The four children are Reynie, Sticky, Kate, and Constance. But before they become a team, they all pass the tests and meet Mr. Benedict. Mr. Benedict explains a project he is working on, on that could save the world. The project is to stop The Sender (Ledroptha Curtain/Mr. Curtain) from planting secret messages in the heads of everyone on Earth using thought and his machine, The Whisperer. Together, they travel to Nomansan Island and become the students of the Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened. They all work hard to uncover what Mr. Curtain is doing. Together, Reynie and Sticky become Messengers and find out about Mr. Curtain's plans. At the end, they have a final plan to dismantle Mr. Curtain's plan. They follow through with it, but the mastermind behind the messages escapes. I would rate this book 5 stars.

Imagine that one day you were taking a tour of a museum, you find a secret sub-basement and you sneak in. Inside you find a group of people working on some complicated machines. There is also someone under a large machine who seemed to be their leader, shouting instruction and getting zapped by a machine. What would you do? The book Zodiac Legacy: Convergence was authored by Stan Lee, and co-written by Stuart Moore. In the book, the main character Steven Lee is given powers from the Chinese Zodiac, specifically, the tiger. He and his new friends and mentors, Jasmine and Carlos, track down the other four people who were affected by the Zodiac energy being released. Once they recruit them, they take them back to their base. The antagonist, Maxwell, has a private company called Vanguard. He had taken half the Dragon power, while Jasmine had the other half. The team is attacked many times by Maxwell's private Zodiac powered paramilitary unit, each time, barely escaping. In the end, the team tries to leech all the dragon power from Maxwell and put it into Jasmine.

If I review two books, the first two will count towards the lip moisturizer, but will I have to read another five to get the book? So do the book reviews stack up?
