This tale begins in a world... A world full of fairies, dwarves, elves, and angels. You see a beautiful land with blankets of green grass and magical elements. Then you meet Maleficent, a beautiful, young fairy with black horns and feathery wings. In the beginning, the other fairies tell Maleficent about a magical jewel that was stolen from the pond. Maleficent meets the thief, a young peasant boy about her age named Stefan. The two quickly become friends, and as said in the movie, friendship slowly turned into something else. Maleficent and Stefan are not older. Meanwhile, the king of their world, King Jerad, is ill. He will die soon, and must find an heir to the throne. After King Jerad's army was defeated by Maleficent, he wants revenge. He promises that whichever man is noble enough to tear off Maleficent's wings and return them to him will be the next king. Of course, Stefan is overcome with greed. He betrays Maleficent and takes her wings. Maleficent is devastated. She was no longer free to fly, free to soar. Years later, King Stefan and his new wife have a new daughter, Aurora. On her first birthday, they invite all of the kingdom to see beautiful Aurora and to see the fairies bestow gifts upon their baby. Maleficent, angry that she was not invited to Aurora's christening, barges in and curses the child. Aurora is taken to live with the fairies to be safe from Maleficent. As Maleficent watches Aurora grow older, she becomes more and more connected to the child, even to a point where she realizes that she never should have cursed the poor girl. Throughout the rest of the story, you will witness a beautiful moral and the real story of Maleficent.
