On the day that shocks the world, one boy just wants to find his family. A powerful addition to the gripping I SURVIVED series.

The only thing Lucas loves more than football is his Uncle Benny, his dad's best friend at the fire department where they both work. Benny taught Lucas everything about football. So when Lucas's parents decide the sport is too dangerous and he needs to quit, Lucas has to talk to his biggest fan.

So the next morning, Lucas takes the train to the city instead of the bus to school. It's a bright, beautiful day in New York. But just as Lucas arrives at his uncle's firehouse, everything changes -- and nothing will ever be the same again.

Lucas is a kid who LOVES football. But one day at practice, he falls, hits his head, and has a concussion. His doctor decides he has to quit, but he won't take no for an answer. The next day, he sneaks on a train to Brooklyn and asks his friend whether he should quit, and to his surprise, he says yes. One moment later, the 1st plane hits the world trade center. Will Lucas survive?

I Survived the Attacks of September 11th 2001 is a historical fiction by Lauren Tarshis. It's about a football loving boy named Lucas who is out in the city when the planes crash into the Twin Towers. When Lucas sneaks away from home and into the city to see his Uncle Benny, he watches as planes crash into his own city. I would reccomend I Survived the Attacks of September 11th, 2001 for grades second to fifth.

I survived the attacks of September 11th, 2001 is an inspiration and a tragic disaster in New York city and many life"s were lost in New York. city.

i love this book. I love reading about books that represent attacks. this helped me research the Afgastan war.

11-year old Lucas loves his favorite sport, FOOTBALL. But most importantly, he loved his Uncle Benny, his dad's best friend. His father and Uncle Benny worked together at the fire department. Uncle Benny taught Lucas everything he knew about football. In the bright sunlight, Lucas starts taking the train instead of the school bus. It was a beautiful day outside. Birds were singing, flowers were starting to appear. But a destruction threw all it's hope on one of the famous Twin Towers. Can everything go back to where it belongs, or will Lucas's hometown be finished for good?

This is not my kind of book but it is a good idea putting real life events into a perspective that kids can better understand. Lucas loves football but his parents won't allow him to risk another injury so one day he skips school to go discuss the matter with his fire fighting and football loving uncle. Little did he know that two of New York's most treasured buildings were about to be destroyed. Lucas watches as his uncle goes to save the people inside the buildings from the fire and debris.

I love learning about this event in history, because it is so interesting, so I decided to read this book, and I fell in love with it! I TOTALLY recommend this book, and all of the I SURVIVED series. Check them out! I hope you fall in love with them like I do!
