Peter Hatcher can’t catch a break. His little brother, Fudge—the five-year-old human hurricane—has big plans to marry Peter’s sworn enemy, Sheila Tubman. Judy Blume spent her childhood in Elizabeth, NJ, making up stories inside her head. She has spent her adult years in many places, doing the same thing, only now she writes her stories down on paper. Adults as well as children will recognize such Blume titles as: Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret; Superfudge; Blubber; Just As Long As We're Together; and Forever. She has also written the best-selling novels Wifey; Smart Women; and, Summer Sisters. Judy's first book in the Fudge series, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, was published in 1972. She is thrilled to be celebrating its 30th Anniversary with the publication of Double Fudge. Just as generations of fans have loved the Fudge books, generations of Judy's family have inspired them. Thirty years ago, Fudge was inspired by her son, Larry, and now Double Fudge was written at the request of her grandson, Elliot.

Judy lives on islands up and down the East Coast with her husband George Cooper. They have three grown children and one grandchild.

Are you looking for a fantastic book?! If so, I would recommend “Fudge-a-mania” from the Judy Blume series about Peter and Fudge Hatcher, two brothers who live on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

I really recommend this book for people who love humor and can relate to someone being really annoying (and sometimes mean).

At the beginning of this amazing book, Peter Hatcher finds out that he has to go to Maine for three weeks with his mom, dad, little brother (Fudge), baby sister (Tootsie), and his grandmother. Additionally included on this trip are the family pets: Fudge’s bird (Uncle Feather), and Peter’s dog (Turtle). Also going to Maine are his neighbors, the Tubmans, and that includes Sheila Tubman, his life-long enemy. (Remember how I said I would recommend this book if you can relate to someone being really annoying?) Spending his vacation with Sheila Tubman will be even harder than he had expected when he finds out that he has to share a house with her. At least he can invite his friend, Jimmy Fargo, to help him survive. Their summer adventures include Peter swallowing a fly, getting a crush on a girl, Sheila babysitting Fudge, Uncle Feather going missing, and even a wedding!

One reason I really like this book is that I can relate to Peter. I have someone in my life who is extremely annoying, and I also have experienced family craziness. Another reason I like the book is because it’s packed with a lot of adventures and humor.

Once again I really recommend this funny and entertaining book.

Fudge-A-Mania was my favorite book ever and first Judy Blume book!

It’s a comedy about Peter and his CRAZY little brother, Fudge. In this book, Fudge is marrying Sheila Tubman, Peter’s sworn enemy. Sheila is twelve and Fudge is five!!! Peter also has to spend three weeks in Maine with Sheila, Fudge and their families!!! At least he can bring his best friend, Jimmy Fargo too survive Sheila.

You will find yourself laughing out loud now and then. I would recommend this to everyone! This was a amazing book!

Absolutely love this book. My husband wanted this book to read to our 3 boys at night. He read it when he was a kid. I would definitely recommend this book for your kids. 9 and up definitely. Some spoilers about Santa, and mentions the birds and bees but does not go into any details. My husband read it when he was in 3rd grade. Still relevant in today's world.

Not as great as the original first two Fudge books (what third book in a series is?) but still a cute story. Peter, Fudge, Sheila and their family gangs vacation in Maine. My family also spends a portion of summers in Southwest Harbor so that connection really made the book worthwhile for my kids. Definitely recommend if you've read the first Fudge books.
