Congo is a dangerous place, even for people who are trying to do good.

When Sophie has to visit her mother at her sanctuary for bonobos, she's not thrilled to be there. Then Otto, an infant bonobo, comes into her life, and for the first time she feels responsible for another creature.

But peace does not last long for Sophie and Otto. When an armed revolution breaks out in the country, the sanctuary is attacked, and the two of them must escape unprepared into the jungle. Caught in the crosshairs of a lethal conflict, they must struggle to keep safe, to eat, and to live.

In ENDANGERED, Eliot Schrefer plunges us into a heart-stopping exploration of the things we do to survive, the sacrifices we make to help others, and the tangled geography that ties us all, human and animal, together.

I’m sorry to say that despite my attempts to read this, it’s terrible. The put too many details and take to long to get to the point, the idea was good, but poorly executed. I am an avid reader, and it’s usually pretty easy for me to read books, even bad ones. But with this, my eyes glaze over and I involuntarily skip sentences and paragraphs.

This is my favorite book. You neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed to read it! It is so emotional, at one moments your crying and then laughing. It's a great book.

this is such an amazing book that deserves full applauds. you will be laughing when Otto plays with the little boy, you will cry when the girl looses her mother and smiling when ahem... I cant spoil it but I would say its a mature read, 10 years and up. you should certainly check It out because it still holds top five favorite books for me and my friend.

I just started this, and so far it seems awesome!

I thought this book was absolutely amazing, emotional and realistic. I was on the edge of my seat with every turn the book took and I found myself so indulged in the book that I felt as though I was part of the story.
