Lauren Oliver's powerful New York Times bestselling novel Delirium the first in a dystopian trilogy presents a world as terrifying as George Orwell's 1984 and a romance as true as Romeo & Juliet. In an alternate United States, love has been declared a dangerous disease, and the government forces everyone who reaches eighteen to have a procedure called the Cure. Living with her aunt, uncle, and cousins in Portland, Maine, Lena Haloway is very much looking forward to being cured and living a safe, predictable life. She watched love destroy her mother and isn't about to make the same mistakes. But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena meets enigmatic Alex, a boy from the Wilds who lives under the government's radar. What will happen if they do the unthinkable and fall in love? Delirium received starred reviews from Kirkus and School Library Journal, and was named a Best Book of the Year by USA Today, Kirkus, Amazon.com, YALSA, and the Chicago Public Library and was selected as one of NPR's Top 100 Best Ever Teen Novels. Lauren Oliver brings a zesty, fresh, dystopian novel to the publishing world in her new book "Delirium" starring main protagonist Magdalena Haloway. With each chapter starting with an excerpt from the Book of Shhh, Lauren does an incredible job of establishing a futuristic world where love is viewed as a disease. Magdalena, or Lena for short, is a teenager who is about to be cured forever from having to experience amor nervosa deliria, the love disease. In the beginning, she counts down the days until her curing. But when a fluke cuts her cure short and reschedules it, Lena is in for a whirlwind when she meets Alex. If love is a disease, why does it feel so good? Maybe Lena understands her mother's suicide a little better after all. In this spellbinding part one of Lauren Oliver's trilogy, readers will not hesitate to purchase the next two books from the very first page.

Delirium is about a girl named Lena who has waited her whole life to be cured of deliria. The sickness of love. A couple of days before Lana has her procedure of the cure she falls in love with a boy named Alex. Alex is an invalid. Invalids are against the law.

This is an absolutely amazing book but really sad I cried heaps. It is about a girl called Lena her mother and father are dead and she lives with her aunt and uncle. She then meets Alex and falls in love. Although love is thought to be a disease and is strictly forbidden, so when people turn 18 they get the cure to stop them from falling in love. I really recommend reading this book! I rate it five stars

This is one of my all time favorite series!!!!!

Similar in nature to the Hunger games, this is a fantastic book. Another society being controlled by tyrants and those standing up saying they will not be treated as puppets. Suspenseful!

This wasn't really one of my favorite books....there was practically no action, just another love story....and then a love triangle in the 2nd and 3rd. :I

In this book, love is a disease. Lina, at the beginning of the story, can't wait for the procedure to block love from ur body. Then she meets Alex and instantly falls in love!

Best book ever-- couldn't stop reading it! It's dystopian, in a world where love is thought of as a disease, so it's illegal to love. Lena believed that love is terrible her whole life until one day... she falls in love. A MUST READ!

I finished it like 2 hours ago about in the future when they think love is a disease but how can people think love as a disease when its the best thing ever in the world.

I like how the author captures her feelings in this book its like art but with words it so beautiful
