“Fans of Kate DiCamillo, Jennifer Holm, and Polly Horvath will find this an enjoyable and engrossing read.” —School Library Journal

Bee is an orphan who lives with a carnival and sleeps in the back of a truck. Every day she endures taunts for the birthmark on her face, though she prefers to think of it as a precious diamond.

Then one day a scruffy dog shows up, as unwanted as she, and Bee realizes she must find a home for them both. She discovers a cozy house with gingerbread trim that reminds her of frosting, where two mysterious women, Mrs. Swift and Mrs. Potter, take her in. Whoever these women are, they matter. They matter to Bee. And they are helping Bee realize that she, too, matters to the world—if only she will let herself be a part of it.

This book is so good. It is the best(NOT KIDDING) the best book I've ever read. How Kimberly describes it so well. Oh, it's just amazing!

Some of my friends read this book for a project. It is about a girl working at a carnival that has a big birthmark on her face. That's all I know. (sorry)

This was one of my favorite books. The ending was happier than how the book went.

Kimberly wrote a beautiful book when she wrote this. Bee's life is described perfectly, and the book flows harmoniously. The book ended somewhat sadly, and I felt that it could have used maybe 2 more chapters, but otherwise, the story-line was masterful as dazzling as Bee's diamond.

i love this book so much my favorite part was every thing i cant choose i was sad when the girl had to leave and she had to still do the hot dog cart and i remember when she met the dog and was trying to hide him but it was sad when the man found out but she decided to run away i ready this book a little wile ago so i hope i am remembering this write
