Jason Blake is an autistic 12-year-old living in a neurotypical world. Most days it's just a matter of time before something goes wrong. But Jason finds a glimmer of understanding when he comes across PhoenixBird, who posts stories to the same online site as he does. Jason can be himself when he writes and he thinks that PhoneixBird-her name is Rebecca-could be his first real friend. But as desperate as Jason is to met her, he's terrified that if they do meet, Rebecca wil only see his autism and not who Jason really is.By acclaimed writer Nora Raleigh Baskin, this is the breathtaking depiction of an autistic boy's struggles-and a story for anyone who has ever worried about fitting in.

This is a great book! It was so interesting seeing the world in the eyes of a autistic boy. It was very interesting and it made care more for autistic people. I felt very bad for Jason, how people would be mean to him. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a kind heart!!

Anything But Typical is a good book. It is good because the author does a great job of expressing how the main characters feel. I would really recommend it to every one. Reply if you like the book as well.

Anything But Typical a book by Nora Raleigh Baskin, is about an autistic kid named Jason Blake, who is socially awkward and doesn't like to talk to others, but loves to write. Anything But Typical takes place in the present. Jason goes to middle school where things goes wrong. But at home things could not be better. Where most of the book takes place at. Which are all in the state of Connecticut. The main characters in Anything But Typical are Jason Blake, his younger brother Jeremy, Jason's parents, and most importantly Rebecca. Rebecca is a girl Jason interacts with online. Jason Blake is socially akward. He doesn't have any real friends. But he is very talented in writing. Writing is Jasons way to escape from the world. But all of that changes when a girl Rebecca messages him telling him she liked his story. Jason takes this as his one chance to have a real friend, or maybe girlfriend. Baskins writing style is like your in the character's head. As Jason tells his life story you feel like you're experiencing it with him. Also Baskin flashes back to stories in Jason's life. She will be talking about one thing and flash back through his life and tell another story Jason has gone through. Here's two quotes from Anything But Typical that represents Baskins writing style“ Most people like to talk in their own language”, “When Jeremy was born, everyone was afraid I would hurt him”. Anything But Typical is a book everyone can relate to. The way of realizing your not the same to everyone and everyone is different is a hard idea to grasp to. But this book grasped to it just the right way. Its an important lesson to learn. For me it was easy to relate to Jason. He always knew he was different, but in a good way. This book has brought out a positive view on the world for me. Definitely a great book to read! Anything But Typical won the Schneider Family book award. Which is a huge accomplishment! Anything But Typical is a great book everyone all shapes and sizes should read.
