Stacey and Laine have been best friends for years. But could one visit to Stoneybrook ruin all of that? Stacey is excited when Laine decides to spend her vacation in Stoneybrook. Stacey can't wait to show Laine the BSC, her friends, and her school. But when Laine arrives, she's nothing like the way she used to be. In fact, Laine is just flat-out rude. She talks down the BSC, she thinks babysitting is for babies, and numerous other things. Stacey is so surprised and hurt. How could Laine be so mean? I thought book was, although sad, very relatable and interesting. It taught the importance of good friends. In the story, the reader gets an inside look on what Laine's life is. In previous books, such as "Stacey's Mistake" or "Goodbye, Stacey, Goodbye", the reader gets to better understand Laine's and Stacey's friendship. What once was a tight knit friendship, turns into a rivalry. I thought the author took an interesting turn in this book. Unlike some books that end happily, Ann M. Martin lets the reader feel and understand the hurt that Stacey is going through. It was touching, very different from other books I've read. Despite the cheerful cover, this book holds many serious life lessons and problem. I strongly suggest this book if you like reading about friendship and babysitting.
