Touch Blue and your wish will come true.
"Why take chances?" says eleven-year-old Tess Brooks. "Especially when it's so easy to let the universe know what you want by touching blue or turning around three times or crossing your fingers."
But Tess is coming to know that it's not always that simple.
The state of Maine plans to shut down her island's schoolhouse, which would force Tess's family to move to the mainland--and Tess to leave the only home she has ever known. Fortunately, the islanders have a plan too: increase the numbers of students by having several families take in foster children. So now Tess and her family are taking a chance on Aaron, a thirteen-year-old trumpet player who has been bounced from home to home. And Tess needs a plan of her own--and all the luck she can muster. Will Tess's wish come true or will her luck run out?
Newbery Honor author Cynthia Lord offers a warm-hearted, humorous, and thoughtful look at what it means to belong--and how lucky we feel when we do. Touch Blue, sure as certain, will touch your heart.

Touch Blue is about a girl named Tess Brooks. She is 11 years old. She lives on an island in Maine and ever since her best friend moved away, the island has been talking about getting rid of the school, as there aren't enough children to keep it open anymore. The islanders don't want to move away from their home, so they have agreed to take in one orphan child per family. Tess's family is taking in a 13 year old boy named Aaron. Tess and her younger sister, Libby, are really excited and hope Aaron will like the things they do. Tess has a lot of lucky things she collects. She finds a piece of smooth blue glass in the sand and picks it up to be her new lucky charm. After all, there is a saying that is "Touch blue and your wish will come true". Tess wishes that Aaron will like the things her and Libby do. There is so much stress. And on top of that, there is a mean boy named Eben who is really annoying. This is a great book, I give it a 5 star.

This book is about a young girl named Tess and her family. Ever since Tess's best friend moved away the small town in Maine is questioning if their school will stayed open. So, most of the families decided they would foster a child. Tess's family decided to foster a boy named Aaron. When Aaron first arrived he didn't feel so comfortable, he felt as if he didn't belong. I feel that everyone should read this book because I teaches you to always look on the positive side.

This is an amazing book about a girl named Tess who lives on an island in Maine. When a family moves to the mainland, the state of Maine threatens to shut down the school.Tess' family then takes in a 13year old named Aaron. Aaron can really play the trumpet, but is shy and often grumpy. Can tess and her fiveyearold sister, Libby, help Aaron feel comfortable, or will Aaron leave and the school shut down? this great read by Cynthia Lord is amazing, and i would recommend all of her books, including Rules. FIVE STARS

This book is really good. It is about a girl named Tess and it's about how her family fosters a 13 year-old boy named Aaron. But Aaron is really shy around Tess's family. I wonder if he will get to be more outgoing and feel more comfortable near Tess' family.

This is a book about a girl whose parents adopt a 12 year old boy. Her family lives on a very small island. The girls is very excited about the boy coming but when he gets there, he doesn't seem to like living on a island. What will happen next?
