Riley, a teen orphan boy living in Victorian London, has had the misfortune of being apprenticed to Albert Garrick, an illusionist who has fallen on difficult times and now uses his unique conjuring skills to gain access to victims' dwellings. On one such escapade, Garrick brings his reluctant apprentice along and urges him to commit his first killing. Riley is saved from having to commit the grisly act when the intended victim turns out to be a scientist from the future, part of the FBI's Witness Anonymous Relocation Program (WARP) Riley is unwittingly transported via wormhole to modern day London, followed closely by Garrick.

In modern London, Riley is helped by Chevron Savano, a nineteen-year-old FBI agent sent to London as punishment after a disastrous undercover, anti-terrorist operation in Los Angeles. Together Riley and Chevie must evade Garrick, who has been fundamentally altered by his trip through the wormhole. Garrick is now not only evil, but he also possesses all of the scientist's knowledge. He is determined to track Riley down and use the timekey in Chevie's possession to make his way back to Victorian London where he can literally change the world.

This book was really good. It contains F.B.I. and time-travel. When a murderer and his reluctant assistant enter the modern age from the 1890's, FBI screw-up Chevron Savano, and the past, are in danger.

The story is basically about a girl and she wants to be an FBI agent. She had a mission and botched it so they sent her to London to guard a time machine. She goes back in time and has a big adventure in another time. I have felt like Chevie because she actually worked hard for her goal and tried very hard to achieve it but she didn't and she had many setbacks and obstacles when trying to achieve it. My favorite part in the book is when they outsmart Garrick using his own magic tricks and basically being smart. I really like this book, it is great, it is funny, adventurous, and there is some violence.

That looks really good.

This book is great! (

Riley works for an evil man as his apprentice, and is an orphan boy living in un-modern London. Albert (the evil man) uses something like magic to give people the things they want for money.Soon Albert makes Riley do his first killing, but before Riley can do so he is saved by the victim. The victim is really a scientist from the future. On the cover you see something that says WARP.Which stands for Witness Anonymous Relocation Program. From this name you would probably guess Riley is going to be relocated,if so you are correct. He is sent threw a wormhole to modern London. This is kind of like a mystery/crime solving kind of book that is really cool and interesting. The person that rescued works with Riley to put Albert to rest.

Parents need to know that The Reluctant Assassin is the start of a new series from the author of the bestselling Artemis Fowl series, so many kids will want to read it. The publishers recommend this exhilarating time travel read for ages 12 and up, but it seems a better fit for teens who've already digested many high-action, high-violence PG-13 movies. The villain isn't the reluctant assassin -- he's very willing to kill and does it often, both for hire and for himself, with some gory detail. His assistant, 14-year-old Riley, is the reluctant one. Riley and Native American Chevie (hooray for girls in sci-fi!) face nonstop danger, including kidnapping, fighting for their lives in an arena, poisoning, and more. There's lots of talk of how they were orphaned and a view of a London slum with despair and death all around. Both Riley and Chevie are resilient characters who use serious smarts to stay ahead of the killer on their tail.
