The new kid in school needs a new name! Or does she?

Being the new kid in school is hard enough, but what about when nobody can pronounce your name? Having just moved from Korea, Unhei is anxious that American kids will like her. So instead of introducing herself on the first day of school, she tells the class that she will choose a name by the following week. Her new classmates are fascinated by this no-name girl and decide to help out by filling a glass jar with names for her to pick from. But while Unhei practices being a Suzy, Laura, or Amanda, one of her classmates comes to her neighborhood and discovers her real name and its special meaning. On the day of her name choosing, the name jar has mysteriously disappeared. Encouraged by her new friends, Unhei chooses her own Korean name and helps everyone pronounce it—Yoon-Hey.

I love this book so much.

This is a really good book. It teaches you that you should be grateful with what you have. For example, the girl in the book is trying to look for a name, but ended up using her own name, which fits her the best.

this is a really important book so u guys need to listen carefully.

The girl in the cover I from my country, South Korea. I'm from South Korea too.

One day in Unhei got out of a plane with her mom, dad, and her grandma it was her first day in America and everything was different she wouldn't be going to her old school anymore she would have to go to a new school , she wouldn't be with her old friends anymore she would have to make new friends and that was not going to be easy, and she would have to get used to a new life in America but that was going to be hard for her to because she was uses to the life she had in Korea so before she left her grandmother stopped her and said Unhei I am going to give you a stamp and a inkpad the stamp has your name carved into it so you can remember me because her grandmother was not staying in America with them she was getting back on a plane and going back to Korea but when her grandmother left her mom dad and her went to their new house when they got there they settled into the house and ate dinner. The next day it was Unhei's first day at her new school when she got on the bus kids started asking her was she new and she said yes so then they asked her what her name was then she said Unhei and they all tried as hard as they could to say it but the couldn't but finally they were at the school she got off the bus some of they other kids were yelling "bye Unhei" but they still said it wrong and she didn't like how people pronounced her named because they could not do it right. when she got in the school she found her teacher standing outside the door to her classroom so when the teacher spotted her he said come on in this is your lucky day so she went in and saw many kids she did not now all staring at her so the teacher welcomed her into the classroom and asked her what her name was and to tell the rest of the class but when he said tell the class your name she remembered what happened on the bus and she said I don't have a name and they asked why she said because she hadn't chose one yet so one little girl said "I have an idea we can help her find a new name I can bring a jar and we can fill it with names we cam think of." So the next day the little girl that had the idea of finding a new name for Unhei brought a jar with names already for Unhei to pick a name she went through a few name but she did not like any of the name so she pushed the jar aside.so se could work for a while. The next day when she got back to school the name jar was not on her desk so the class helped her search for it but they could not find it. So when she got home she asked her mom if she could have a new name like Jessica because all the other kids in her class didn't know how to pronounce her name but her mom said " you have a beautiful name and I think you should keep it" But Unhei didn't want her name she didn't like her name.

Is a great book to remind you to always be yourself, and never try to change yourself to fit in. It also helps remind you to not worry about what others think. We are all unique and special. It made our class wonder what our names meant. We hope you read and enjoy this book!!! We loved it!!! :-)

I like it because unhie 's name means grace .She was scared to tell her name. You should read this book.

I know this book doesn't seem that good, but even though I'm in 5th grade, we are doing it for our comprehending unit. It is about an girl named Unhei who moved here from Korea. On the bus, she was teased about her name, so she was scared to tell her classmates her real name. When Unhei finds out that her friends don't care about her name, but her, she decides to tell her friends her real name. I realized, most picture books have a deeper meaning, that sometimes is meant for older kids.
