The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby

By F. Scott Fitzgerald

The Great Gatsby is personally too deep for me to understand and dissolve all of it. This story was based on the Jazz Age, when the rich and fabulous were having marvelous parties after World War I. I like Jordan Baker the most in this story, because even though she is cynical, I think she was wise and knew a lot of things. Daisy was the person I don’t admire the most. Although she was beautiful and men were infatuated by her, but I feel like she was just a pretty shell without a deep soul. Her desires weren’t realistic and she was greedy. However, she reminded me and taught me to not become someone that resembles her. I saw there are a lot of things that weren’t reveal. I learnt that the world is make up of greed, lies, and insidiously and undoubtedly, reality. It’s hard to face the truth that people are actually selfish creatures that often think about themselves. People are fickle, like plants, we often choose the way that benefit us the most. It might sound disappointed and dark, but sadly and truly, it’s the truth.

The Call of the Wild

The Call of the Wild

By Jack London

BananaSqush01

The Call of the wild. When I read ''The Call of the Wild''. It was sad and quite inspiring. In this troubled book it's like Jack London is telling a powerful and strong massage. Although this is only a shortened version of ''White Fang '' it is still just as good. In this story Buck a much loved dog is kidnapped and transported to the snowy northwest Canada where he must work for the gold hunters of the 1890s gold rush. As the adventure unfolds Buck finds himself becoming more wild until the end Buck must fight a pack of wolves and answers to the call of the wild. Buck is an amazing and wild at heart character that is brave and true. this really shows what people can do to dogs and what dogs can do back. I give this book 4\1-2 stars. It is so sad that Jack London killed himself and I recommend it for people a least 13+ because of the strong volante themes.

The True Colours of Coral Glen

The True Colours of Coral Glen

By Juliette Forrest

I love it. It is quite sad when Coral's grandma dies and she loses her cat but now I hope things will get better in the end.

The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes (The Oxford Sherlock Holmes)

The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes (The Oxford Sherlock Holmes)

By Arthur Conan Doyle, Christopher Roden

This is a very classical novel, it contains many short adventures about Sherlock Holmes. All of them are full of mystery and very interesting. The plots are compact that let people cannot realise what happened yet, then the criminals are arrested. I love the way which Conan Doyle used to describe characters. Although there are many characters in this novel. but I can clearly remember each of them. Because the author used many adjective to describe each of them. "The Final Problem" is my favourite stories of this book. Although Sherlock died in this story, the plots are still very interesting. Sherlock and professor Moriarty are both died. The process of the conflict between them is very thrilling.

Julius Caesar (The Alexander Shakespeare)

Julius Caesar (The Alexander Shakespeare)

By William Shakespeare

This is my book review of Julius Caesar, the book by William Shakespeare. I gave this book 3 stars because it was kind of hard to understand, because in the olden times people used different words. Also, the whole storyline wasn’t very interesting. And last of all, it was a play. A play! Not a book. But that is the negative side. I have a few positive notes about the book too. It was interesting learning how romans live. I never actually payed lots of attention to history, but this book got me learning. How Julius Caesar lived, his friends, his allies, and how he died. Read this if you’re interested in history. I would recommend this to kids 9+.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (Step-up adventures)

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (Step-up adventures)

By Judith Conaway

I gave this book a 4 star rating because it caught my attention. This book is about the story of three accidental visitors to an underwater world hosted by the mysterious Captain Nemo. From their arrival on board the Nautilus, the scholarly Professor Aronnax, loyal Conseil, and adventurous Ned Land are torn between exploring the new wonders of their surroundings and finding a way to escape. They originally went to Nautilus to find out what species of undiscovered whale has been damaging world shipping. However, far from encountering a whale that has wrecked world shipping, they soon find themselves on the iron plating of a new kind of vessel, a submarine. Read this book to find out more. I made a connection with this book because I saw the front cover had the tentacles and the tentacles were wrapped around the ship and the ship looked like it was sinking.
