My Life With The Chimpanzees

My Life With The Chimpanzees

By Jane Goodall

I chose the book "My Life With The Chimpanzees" by Jane Goodall, who is also the main character. First, this autobiography is non-fiction, the pictures are taken by the Goodall family and others, and finally, this remarkable story contains 156 pages. Jane’s story will never fade away from history, as people admire how she fought her way through challenges she faced during her teen years such as fleeing from World War II, working everyday to earn money in a film industry and as a waitress, and many more difficult experiences. As she and her fondness of animals grew, Jane Goodall traveled to Africa and got a job finding fossils, then, later on in her life, went on an expedition to live among the chimpanzees and observed their way of living in the wild. She went on to becoming famous for her research, as she studied animal behavior, their lifestyle and observed things nobody had realized before. Jane Goodall learned many valuable lessons during her lifetime, many regarding her time with the wild animals. She learned, along with millions of other people, that chimpanzees have every right to have emotions, and to feel. Over the years that Jane watched chimpanzees, she noticed something nobody had before; in certain circumstances, chimpanzees acted just like humans! For example, chimpanzees are threatened and sometimes even badly injured, their owners to be blamed. They’ll comfort each other when times are hard, from a loved one dying to getting caught in a hunter’s trap. Humans do the same, wont they? Also, when a chimpanzee senses danger nearby, he alerts his family and fellow friends, and they go, face the trouble, together. I would recommend this book to anyone who understands how important animals are to Earth, and how us humans rely on their behavior to keep us thriving. I also recommend this book to those who get inspired by Jane Goodall’s attributes. First of all, she was very dedicated to her work for animals. Next, she was also very courageous and brave, as she would face violent monkeys and go deep into the forest in order to witness amazing sights. Finally, she is empathetic and is currently trying to solve the world’s environment problems and is trying to prevent man-made disasters. One unanswered question I would like to ask Jane Goodall- Why did you choose chimpanzees as your main animal to study?

The Doldrums

The Doldrums

By Nicholas Gannon

The Doldrums In this brilliant debut novel for children in the middle grades,The Doldrums, Nicholas Gannon introduces readers to the adventures, sometimes accidental, of an eccentric young dreamer named Archer B. Helmsley and his two equally eccentric friends. Nicholas Gage, the author of this book had a strong idea of making this book full of adventures and a good read for kids. The book itself falls into the category of Fantasy Fiction. If I rated this book I would give it a 5/5. My overall opinion on this book is that it made me laugh numerous times throughout this book and I would definitely recommend this book for all ages. Archer is growing up in a home filled with the magnificent collection of oddities owned by his grandparents, renowned explorers and adventurers Ralph and Rachel Helmsley. He is stuck inside of his own house not able to get out because of his parents. They do not want Archer to be like his grandparents and go of exploring when times are difficult for their family. Although he's never met them (except for the day of his birth), Archer's mother and father quickly recognize that he may be more like his grandparents than they prefer. "Some parents may wonder, How do we know we have the right one? after bringing their child home from the hospital. If Mr. and Mrs. Helmsley had such thoughts of their own, they were quickly extinguished. From the very beginning, Archer showed all the signs of being a Helmsley." This quote explained how they knew Archer was indeed a Helmsley and how the parents knew about it. From his age of birth he has always to talked to his stuffed animals. With his imagination he thinks that they are indeed human beings and treats them like them. If someone was reading this book for the first time, they might connect to James Bond movies because he travels the world and that is exactly what Archer plans to do when he gets older. Nicholas Gannon is now a well known author with his award winning book. The type of reader that may enjoy this book is someone who is into adventures and makes sure to read every single sentence in this action packed book.

The Book of Mormon (1830 Edition): An Account Written by the Hand of Mormon, Upon Plates Taken from the Plates of Nephi: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

By Joseph Smith

The Book of Mormon is the best book there is! Lehi is told by God that his family must leave Jerusalum. He tells the people of Jerusalum that they must leave, for the city will be destroyed. Nobody listens to him. Lehi's family journey in the wilderness, away from Jerusalum. Lehi is told by God that they must return to Jerusalum to retrieve the brass plates. His sons, Laman, Lemuel, Nephi, and Sam go back to Jerusalum to get the plates of brass. They are delivered out of the hands of Laban by God. They journey further into the wilderness, in search of the promised land. They find the Liahona, a certain compass sort of thing. When they are being righteous, it works. When they are murmuring and dwindle in unbelief, it does not work. Laman and Lemuel murmur the most. They do not believe in the power of God, even though it has been shown to them many times. Nephi is commanded to build a ship by God, to sail to the promised land. You'll have to read the book (or go to the LDS church) to find out the rest. Note: This review does not do justice to the actual book. It is the most true story there ever was. I highly recommend you read it and follow it's teachings. They will bless your life. They blessed mine.
