The Unteachables

The Unteachables

By Gordon Korman

Have you ever gone to a school where you there's a class that is for 'bad kids'? Well, in Greenwich middle school, a class called SCS-8 is filled with kids that are misfits and delinquents. Kids like Aldo; who has anger management issues, Parker; who doesn't know how to read, Kiana; who isn't even registered in a class, and Elaine; who rhymes with 'pain'. Their teacher is Mr. Kermit, who was caught in a cheating scandal from his years of teaching and shattered his confidence in teaching. In this book, Mr. Kermit and the kids work with each other and slowly build up the teacher-student bond. The teacher still tries to fight through all the issues in his job to keep teaching. After reading this book and seeing all characters' perspectives, I finally understood how it felt to be a different peron, not just being a regular person at school. I hope you guys take a shot at this book because this book can be based in a real-life-school situation.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Book 1

Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Book 1

By Jeff Kinney

I have read the series multiple times, and my mom was always mad about it. I don';t know why, but Jeff Kinney had m hooked on from the first page. That is not something that happens a lot with me. I have to read a few pages and then I decide whether I want to read the book or not. So this is probably one of the many books that would be my go-to if I didn't have any other books to read. If you don't know what this book is about, it is about a kid that is in middle school. He has weird people in his h=neighborhood and school. He wants to to do grown-up stuff and all the things his parents do. But when he tries, he finds out how hard it is. It shows his emotions about school, at his home, and a bunch of other stuff many kids have to deal with. I don't know how, but Jeff Kinney mixed comedy with actual life o well, you would actually think he was writing this books when he was a child. Overall, I give this book 5/5 stars. Well done, Jeff!

Holes (Thorndike Press Large Print Literacy Bridge Series)

Holes (Thorndike Press Large Print Literacy Bridge Series)

By Louis Sachar

Stanley Yelnats is always in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it's all thanks to his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather. When a pair of shoes inexplicably fall on Stanley's head, it's the last straw: it turns out that they belong to the famous baseball player Clyde Livingston, who had donated them to the orphanage to be auctioned. In court, Stanley's "they fell out of the sky" reason sounds pretty lame to his own ears, and it does to the court judge, too. He gives Stanley and his parents a choice. Either Stanley serves time or he goes to Camp Green Lake. Stanley was never rich enough to go to camp, so of course, he picks CGL, but it turns out to be beyond his wildest dreams - in the worst way possible. Barely any water, scorching conditions, hostile campmates, selfish camp directors, and having to dig a six-by-six foot hole every day is nothing like the camps Stanley has heard of. But when a miraculous encounter with Zero, a fellow camper, shows that their family lines may have crossed before, Stanley's wrong-place-at-the-wrong-time curse has a chance to be lifted.

The Summer I Turned Pretty

The Summer I Turned Pretty

By Jenny Han

The Summer I Turned Pretty is one of the most amazing books I've read this year. Belly is finally going to be old enough to fit in with Conrad, Jeremiah, and her brother. Every summer she expects Conrad to notice her, but he never did. This summer, Conrad changed completely, he starts to smoke and stops talking to everyone, but so did Belly, she became pretty and her whole summer becomes out of control. I think my favourite character will definitely be Jeremiah because he's very friendly, humorous, and is always there for Belly to be her best friend no matter what. Whenever Belly is feeling down, he is there to solver her problems. I also love how the author uses many throwback chapters to let people know how much they have grown and to let us see what memories made Belly the person she is today. People should definitely read this book, Belly faces many problems that teens today can also experience, such as crush problems, puberty, friendship, and mostly growth. If you've read To All The Boys I Loved Before also by Jenny Han, you will love this book for sure!

The Adventures of Captain Underpants (Captain Underpants #1)

The Adventures of Captain Underpants (Captain Underpants #1)

By Dav Pilkey

There's these two kids named George and Harold. They're best friends and they like to play pranks on people. They also write and sell this comic book called Captain Underpants. One day, they play a huge prank and get caught by their school principal who hates them. The principal blackmails them and they have to do whatever he says. So they buy this hypnotizing ring. Then they hypnotize him, so he'll do whatever they say. They accidently hypnotize him into thing he's Captain Underpants, so then they go off to find him. That's as far as a I got. What I though of it: This book was so unbelievable boring and poorly written, I couldn't stand it. I didn't even make it half-way through the book. I was physically incapable of continuing. The characters were extremely flat. They had no personalities what so ever. I'm guessing I was supposed to like George and Harold, though I really wasn't given a reason to. I'm guessing I was supposed to dislike the principal. I really didn't dislike him anymore than George and Harold. They said he was mean and he didn't like smile and laughter, but that was about the only reason I could think of to dislike him. He did punish George and Harold, but that's not a reason to dislike him. They deserved it. He didn't use the proper method, but still... The illustrations were extremely creepy. If this book was supposed to be funny, it failed miserably. There was nothing even remotely funny about it. Overall, this I couldn't bring myself to finish this book, but what I did manage to read was horrendous.

Nathan

Pete the Cat Rocking in my School Shoes is fantastic! I think this book is for 1st to 2nd. For 3rd graders that book is the wrong grade level. That book is awesome because Pete’s shoes was amazing and brand new. My favorite part is when Pete was wearing his shoes. Why I like those shoes I like those shoes because Pete's shoes looks perfect for me,and I always wanted those shoes, and they look like rock star shoes. You should read this fun book because Pete had his brand new shoes. Another thing red and white could be your favorite color. Buy it on online or check it out in the library. You should get this book.

Even though I read this book in 1st grade & i'm in 5th now, I still remember this book so I've decided to review it. I thought it was very funny. The Pete The Cat series used to be my favorite. I love how he didn't get upset because he lost a button, he just thought it was, quote "groovy" to have 3! I think this book is really good for kidnergardners, 1st graders & 2nd graders. The whole series of The Pete The Cat book's is good for those grades too.
