The River Between Us

The River Between Us

I found this book to be really boring and it didn’t really engage me into it, I wouldn’t read this book again. I’d say the only interesting part in this book is when Noah loses half of his arm and they are in the hospital and watching all the soldiers limbs be torn off. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone because I didn’t find this interesting.

Nate the Great and the Fishy Prize

Nate the Great and the Fishy Prize

By Marjorie Weinman Sharmat

This book s very good. Nate has entered his dog, Sludge in the smartest pet contest. But then the prize goes missing, and it's up to Nate to find it before the contest that afternoon. But it might be closer than he thinks.

Picture Me Gone

Picture Me Gone

By Meg Rosoff

I really can't write a long book review for this book because, well, I did not like it. The only part that I liked was when she met Matthew and decided she shouldn't have sent those texts. That part was really the only part where I could feel how she felt. One of the things that I thought was really annoying with this book is that there were no quotation marks used at any part in this book. That drove me crazy. I hated the Mila's best friend's character. She was not interesting in the way the author created her to be. The first 5 chapters kind of dragged on forever and I felt like there was a cloud over my eyes when I was reading this. It was almost like it was a rainy day and I could almost see how the characters felt...But not quite. So, I guess this did turn out to be king of long, but most of it was spent complaining about how I did not like it.

Liar & Spy (2012) (Korea Edition)

Liar & Spy (2012) (Korea Edition)

By Rebecca Stead

Georges (the s is silent) has just moved into an apartment from a house where he has a nice bedroom. His dad got laid off, so they needed to downsize and they are just getting used to things. He is also getting bullied in school by a kid named Dallas and his buds, but he is not letting it get to him. When he takes out the trash with his dad, they see a sign for a Spy Club. His dad figures it is years old, but he writes “What Time?” on the sign anyway. When Georges goes down there again, he sees that there is an answer: 1:30. At that time, Georges goes into the room with the sign on the door and meets two quirky kids; Candy and Safer. Safer is the head of the club, and Georges is given an assignment; to find out what Mr. X. is up to. Mr. X. is the man who lives above Georges and wears black every day. He doesn’t talk to anyone and carries around two big suitcases. A story of friendship and spying, Liar & Spy follows Georges and Safer on their dangerous mission to find what Mr. X. is hiding. Great for fans of When You Reach Me, Rebecca Stead’s latest book is a must-read. My thoughts: Liar And Spy was a really special read. Rebecca Stead pens books with such character; they have the same vibe and you can tell it is her writing. She throws that unexpected curveball at you,and you never know what is going to happen next. I love how it keeps you guessing-I am always so proud of myself when I guess correctly. Well, I can tell you one thing; I DID NOT guess correctly on this book. It was so unexpected that I almost dropped the book. I woke up my cat by whisper-shouting “WHAT?!?!” I love her style of writing. I also loved the cover: I was really sad to find out (literally five minuted ago) that Yan Nascimbene (cover illustrator) had passed away this year. The cover and the author made me check it out of the library, and I only read the blurb right before I read the book. I loved how the characters Safer and Candy had such personality; they were really fun and unique. If you are a big Rebecca Stead fan, read Liar & Spy!

The Hangman's Revolution (W.A.R.P. Book 2)

The Hangman's Revolution (W.A.R.P. Book 2)

By EOIN COLFER

This book is even better because it shows Chevie having to basically fight two sides of her inside of herself. It shows what might have been and somehow, Chevie manages to foil the plans of the bad guy, Colonel Box. I think that Colonel Box is a really interesting character, he is really cold hearted and he is analytical and bases things on whether it was effective or not. I think that I would change the part where Vallicose has a tank because they came through a time machine and even with their knowledge it would be virtually impossible to construct a tank out of what you remembered and the parts they had at that time was probably not good enough.
