This book is AMAZING. Words cannot express how well the author did on writing this book. It is a very depressing story about a thirteen year old girl name Lakshmi, and her experience with the cruelty in this world. Lakshmi is a typical, poor hill girl. One day her step father decides to let her work as a maid in the city to earn money for the family. But when she visits the city, she finds out that she is not actually there to become a maid but something she never imagined doing in her lifetime. I must warn you this is a very depressing story as it progresses . It can be a lot for young readers to handle. But this book is a very inspiring and excellent book, I highly suggest this book to everyone.

Beduins Gazelle

Beduins Gazelle

By Frances Temple, F Temple

Johnna

In the first few pages of the book was mostly about how the cousins Halima and Atinah are getting married soon, but Atinah was going on a trip to help fight just because their uncle was coming to town. The uncle wanted him here, so he sent his men to go and fetch him. Once he got back, the uncle forced him to go to Fez. While all this stuff was happening, Halima was super sad, but she stayed strong. Soon, it was time to move for the Beni Khalid tribe, but something happened. Halima's wire got cut and she ended up all alone in the empty desert, but she gets rescued from by the enemy tribe and is forced to marry the sheikh. Atinah must escape the heavy clasps of fez, travel the lonely, harsh desert, and find some way to convince the Sheikh to let her go, but he does make a friend on the way. Find out if he can fulfill this suspenseful mission to save his one true love. I liked the book and i think you will to.

The Wampanoags (True Books: American Indians (Pb))

The Wampanoags (True Books: American Indians (Pb))

By Alice K. Flanagan

This book’s genre is history and it was written by Alice K. Flanagan. The Wampanoags lived happily in Michigan until the English came. The leader of the Wampanoags died, and his sons tried to keep the promise, but didn’t keep it and the English attacked the Wampanoags. The main characters are the Wampanoags. They are kind, generous, and had a happy life. Two key events that “added” to the plot was when Massiot, leader of the Wampanoags, died, and when the English attacked. The Wampanoags used to happily live in Rhode Island. Then they had to work in non-Indian communities. On page 48, it says, “American Indians now work in non-Indian communities.” One unanswered question I would like to ask the author is “Were the Wampanoags happy?” I enjoyed the pottery page because it is different from other pages. I would recommend this book because it is a history genre.

Who Is Pele? (Who Was?)

Who Is Pele? (Who Was?)

By James Buckley Jr., Who HQ

I think this is a great book because if you like soccer and want to know about one of the best players ever then hear is a book for you. He was born in a little town in Brazil. he won three world cups with the Brazil National Team. His dad was a soccer player too. I give this book a 5 star rating because it gave me so much more information on a soccer legend that I already knew but now I know everything about him. He goes down as the best soccer player in history. He finished his career off with 1281 goals. He donates money to charities and talks to kid to encourage them to play soccer.

Ida B: . . . and Her Plans to Maximize Fun, Avoid Disaster, and (Possibly) Save the World

Ida B: . . . and Her Plans to Maximize Fun, Avoid Disaster, and (Possibly) Save the World

By Katherine Hannigan

I always see inspirational poems and quotes all around my school, which really made me think about this book. Fourth grader Ida B is always living her life the same, by going outside and listening to the trees talk when all of a sudden the punk out of the trees ,Paulie T, warns Ida B about something bad that is going to happen. Of course Paulie T never tells the truth so Ida B doesn't believe him. Ida B soon finds out she is going to have to go to school and she is excited. When she got to school everything goes bad, her teacher calls her Ida (which you don't call her that because that's her mom's name,)she has to follow a LOT of rules, and doesn't get to have fun. So eventually after two weeks in school her parents announce that she is going to be home-schooled. Everything was fine until a couple years later, on one early morning ,her parents aren't acting the same. She asks what happened and they refuse to tell. Later they finally confess to her mom being diagnosed with cancer. Read more to see what happened! My connection to this book is that my grandma got diagnosed with cancer and passed away a month later.

Where Is the Bermuda Triangle?

Where Is the Bermuda Triangle?

By Megan Stine, Who HQ

If you need information about the bermuda triangle use this. This shows the best information and history of the bermuda triangle. It shows when it was discovered by Columbus and to now when lots of planes have disappeared. I give this book 4 stars because it provides great details and information, but doesn't talk about how it is today. Overall a great book about the history of the bermuda triangle.
