Edgar and Ellen's creature, Pet, has always observed their antics with horror, staying out of their way as much as possible. But now he's getting his own back...Pet's secretly spiking Ellen's food with a special balm that turns her all girly - she's started sewing lace on her PJs and throwing sleepovers. Edgar is in despair. Before he knows it, Ellen has invited Mayor Knightleigh's family into their home - where they're planning to makeover the creepy building and feature it on TV. Edgar, though seriously stuck without Ellen's evil input, begins to unravel Pet's plot - but will he manage it in time?

So I got into this book thinking it would be a mostly childish small read. I had watched the TV show when I was younger and just for the fun of it decided to read this book when I found it in an isolated shelf at Barnes and Nobles. What I was not prepared for, however was a book so engrossing and mysterious that even Sherlock would be scratching his head in wonder. This book which I misunderstood to be a children's book was actually a detailed and layered novel with many twists turns and jokes that one cannot help falling love with it. I believe that every person has something that they love so much, but they are one of the only people in the world that do so, and that is the case with me in this book. The reason this book is a widely unrecognized despite its witty humor and gripping storyline is because it's relatively unknown, there's no advertising about it and it's not sold in many places. Even the author is mystery himself, Charles Ogden isn't even a real person it's a pen name for a group of writers who are unknown. I would highly recommend this book to be read not only because I want to expand its horizons but because everyone deserves to read a book is spectacular as this at least once in their lifetime.

I promised that the summary doesn't do it any justice
