Peter is thrilled to join his parents on an expedition to Greenland, where his father studies global warming. Peter will get to skip school, drive a dogsled, and–finally–share in his dad’s adventures. But on the ice cap, Peter struggles to understand a series of visions that both frighten and entice him.

Thea has never seen the sun. Her extraordinary people, suspected of witchcraft and nearly driven to extinction, have retreated to a secret world they’ve built deep inside the arctic ice. As Thea dreams of a path to Earth’s surface, Peter’s search for answers brings him ever closer to her hidden home.

Rebecca Stead’s fascinating debut novel is a dazzling tale of mystery, science and adventure at the top of the world.

I love this book!! It is Rebecca Stead's first novel, but it is very different from her others. It was kind of hard to get in to the first time, but now that I have read it many times it has gotten better. It would be so amazing to think that there might be another world, much smaller but still its own, underneath our ground. It is such a heartwarming story!!! I recommend this book to all ages, I loved it when I was younger and my dad loves it too :) So great!!

When Peter goes to Greenland, he doesn't know what he's in for. He meets Thea, a girl living in a city inside the ice, who had never seen the sun before they met. Great book!

This book took me to a lot adventures as I read this book. As I read this book when it was another chapter it had like a sign, like for Thea it had a tree sign and as I read the book it wasn't exactly told in the book I figured out that the tree sign meant the first bloodline. For, Peter I've still haven' figured out what the sun signs means.

The sun represents that he is a surface dweller or one that has a sun. I got that from the description when it says “Thea has never seen the sun.” If Thea has never seen the sun, when she meets Peter who has, she associates him with her first view of the sun. (I haven’t actually read this book)

This is an okay book. The other one's of hers were much better. Still, this was enjoyable and sort of thrilling
