I tried reading this book but couldn't get past the second chapter because of how boring it was! It was like reading a very eventless diary, and it was a little confusing too. I don't recommend this book.

I am a 7th grader and I personally did not like the book. For me it was confusing a I did not understand it. I would not recommend the book for 7th grade and younger.

Catherine, Called Birdy by Karen Cushman is a great book for the adventurous and curious type! It follows the story of a girl named Catherine in a medieval manor as she rebels the ladylike, proper and obedient ways her family and place in society want her to be. When her father sets her up with an abominable suitor, Catherine has to find a way to stay free. I would definitely recommend this book and I think everyone should read it!

the best.

This was a great book!! and I am in love with historical fiction! I really enjoyed Catherine's character! this book is so comical, yet sad at the same time. It is a pretty short read however over all I think this book was great! When I first got the book I thought UUUUUGGGGHHHH whyyyyy!! The cover looked ssooo boring! But I think everyone knows: "Don't judge a book by its cover." and that is the truth (I have done that so many times, you think I would have learned my lesson!) I reccomend this book because of how much I enjoyed it hope you enjoy it too!

This book is a fast-moving, immensly witty, and entertaining book. Catherine is a rather independent and stubborn young teen living in the 1200's. Written as her personal diary, it explains her escapades and efforts she goes to in order to disgust future suitors. Her pranks, jokes, and personal achievments are entertainig to read about- not to mention the cures they come up with!

I read this book in school, and enjoyed it immensely! This book follows a year in the life of a teen living in the 1200's. Catherine has many adventures as her father tries to marry her off for money. In this book, Catherine describes the faults of living in that time period, with ticks and stinky privies. I giggled a lot as Catherine looked back on her pranks and parties, and trying to escape the grossest, foulest suitor her father could find!
